Scholars on a Bridge
Scholars on a Bridge
Part of the Two Scholars Series (along with Scholars in a Clouded Gorge and Scholars on Stepping Stones, and Two Scholars and the Moon), the series as a whole is inspired by the Zen Buddhist philosophy that “the obstacle is the path.” Scholars on a Bridge speaks to the importance of staying curious: “The sea of knowledge has no horizon,” '“the willing heart is the dojo.” That is, maintaining your sense of curiosity and a willingness to learn and integrate even the toughest lessons, will enable you to ford any obstacle. Curiosity is the bridge. I see these scholars as being deep in discussion - talking about life’s mysteries, hurts and illusions, as well as maybe cats’ whiskers and sunshine in the surf. Deep acceptance and integration of all that life has to offer, without loaded judgments, will get you pretty much anywhere you want to go.
This piece is 5 x 7 (matted for an 8 x 10 frame) and is available as a fine art print on the ultra luxe velvet Moab paper; OR painted to order in an original ink. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL ORIGINAL INK PAINTINGS ARE ONE OF A KIND. The composition will be the same, but details will differ, and that is part of the beauty of having an original piece.
Painted on “Jade Plate” paper, which is the paper of choice for landscape paintings, original artworks will come silicone-backed and matted in a black-core white matte, ready for framing in any standard 8 x 10 inch frame you choose. Basic black is always a nice choice, but so is antique gold, Chinese red, bamboo, etc.
