Herons are legendary in Chinese philosophy, second only to the Phoenix in bird symbols. They are auspicious for their longevity and because in many legends, they bear the souls of the departed to the heavens. As such, they are thought to connect us to loved ones and the spiritual realms.

Herons bring longevity in relationships of all kinds, are a reminder of our connection to people we have lost or are distant from, and a blessing for a positive future and success in one's doings. Their graceful legs may look spindly and brittle, but they are extraordinarily sturdy and a heron is one of the most sure-footed creatures on earth.  With Heron, if you ask for guidance on where to go or what to do next, it will answer, “You already know the way.” And if you think for a moment, you will find that you do.

The medium scroll, containing the standard size painting, measures 39.5 x 19.5 inches.  Color is an antique gray background with brown brocade. The large scroll measures 59.5 x 23.5 inches. Color for the large scroll is antique gold background with blue brocade. Both are neutral from afar and complement any interior wall color and decor.
