Every exit from one place is an entrance to someplace else. Have you ever shuddered at changes that are out of your control? Where you return to won’t be the old place, no. That place is gone. As is the Self that inhabited it. This is a new place, full of wide vistas and open possibilities; it is the place you are now ready to inhabit and make your own. And doesn’t it feel good to find a good place to land in your new realm? And don’t you luxuriate in knowing that this is where you belong...for now?

Owls carry the gift of sight beyond illusion; they see what others cannot, which is at the heart of wisdom. They also navigate the darkness without difficulty or fear. Many cultures believe the owl carries messages from guides and ancestors that help us on our path. And so the owl is like a Sherpa through hard times. It flies ahead and scouts the land, while you are lost; it brings you insight and occasional nourishment on your journey; and ultimately, it can also lead you “back to the world” and help you “stick the landing” when you get there. Look closely, and you will see that the owl has made eye contact with you, and will keep it wherever you are in the room. It is your companion and guide.
