The Bubble Blower - Carefree
The Bubble Blower - Carefree
I wanted to expand my “Little Monks” series (which you can visit from the drop-down menu of the store) to include “Modern Monks.” The Modern Monks series asks if you can develop a spiritual practice and still be in, and of, the world. Can you elevate yourself spiritually, without withdrawing from society and what it needs from you? This little gum-chewing, bubble-blowing fellow is the founder of the series, and I’ve put him with the characters for “carefree,” not in the sense of not caring, but in the sense of being “spiritually elevated,” cheerful,” or “exuberant,” even in the dark, so that others may find you and be drawn to your light, and so that you, too, may persist.
The beauty of Chinese brush painting is that it can be powerful medicine. It doesn’t necessarily reflect things as they are, but can give you a focal point for how you would like them to be. It can not just underscore your strengths (reflecting your own best self back to you), but can also be chosen as “support” for the areas where you feel weak. The bubble-blower came to me during the first days of the Corona virus lockdown, when no one was feeling particularly carefree. I think that means he arrived PRECISELY on time, and there was nothing ironic about it.
Choose fine art print or original ink. Originals will be painted to order on watercolor paper. PLEASE NOTE THAT ORIGINAL INKS WILL BE UNIQUE, same composition but minor differences in detail, which is part of the beauty of having an original. Both prints and originals are 5 x 7, and will come matted to fit an 8 x 10 inch frame.
